Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP), one of the leading global suppliers of infinitely recyclable, sustainable metal beverage cans and ends to brand owners, has released its 2023 sustainability report. The report encompasses the accomplishments of AMP from 2021 to 2022. It highlights the company's recent advancements in using the skills of its workforce to fulfil its environmental performance goals while further establishing its leading role in sustainable practices within the metal beverage industry.

The key highlights of the 2023 sustainability report include:
The firm has reported the effective implementation of science-based emissions reduction and social sustainability policies for its two operations, Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) and Ardagh Glass Packaging (AGP). In the previous year, AMP and AGP obtained permission from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for their objectives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in scope 1, 2, and 3 by 2030.

"We believe that our products, made from permanent materials, position AMP strongly within the circular economy. We will continue to accelerate our progress on our emissions, ecology and social sustainability strategy in the remainder of this year and beyond. Through collaboration with our people, stakeholders and communities, we can further create social, economic and environmental value," said Oliver Graham, CEO of AMP.
The initiation of the Ardagh for Education initiative in North America, accompanied by a substantial investment of up to $50 million, is facilitated by Project Lead the Way. Additionally, Ardagh has extended its support by investing up to €5 million to collaborate with Wissensfabrik in Germany.
World-class third-party sustainability evaluation agencies acknowledge and reward these commitments and initiatives. Ardagh Group S.A. and its subsidiaries, which include AMP, were recently honoured and raised from a gold ranking to the coveted platinum level in 2022 by EcoVadis, a renowned independent sustainability rating platform. CDP (previously the Carbon Disclosure Project), a non-profit environmental, social, and governance grading organisation, granted AMP an A- for water management and a B for climate change earlier this year. CDP also gave AMP an A for supplier involvement, based on CDP's evaluation of the organisation's alignment, communication, and shared goals with its supply base to accomplish sustainability targets cooperatively.
Ardagh Chairman, Paul Coulson added, "Our products, made from permanent materials and therefore inherently sustainable and circular in nature, position Ardagh and our operating businesses strongly within the circular economy. We remain focused on progressing our sustainability roadmap and will continue to take action to lead the transition to the low-carbon circular economy, of which we are proud that our packaging products are a part of."
