Students Collect Aluminum Tabs For Ronald McDonald House

In a show of teamwork, drive and determination, a number of Osawatomie students banded together to help out Ronald McDonald House — which provides a place for families of sick children to stay — one pop tab at a time.
Since the beginning of the school year, students at Swenson Early Childhood Education Center, Trojan Elementary School and Osawatomie High School have been collecting aluminum tabs of all shapes and sizes. Whether they be from soda cans, juice lids or even soup cans, students snatched them up and threw them all together. When the dust settled and the final count came in, students had collected well over 260 pounds of tabs. While students at Swenson raked in 102 pounds, Trojan students brought in 166 pounds; a final weight was not available for the tabs collected at OHS.
