SMX has filed a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for a ground-breaking application to raise awareness of and account for some of the most significant industrial consumers of aluminium alloy goods and materials. SMX has created a platform that can trace aluminium throughout its lifespan using molecular-level tagging and blockchain technology.

This innovative strategy has the potential to revolutionise industrial transparency and support more environmentally friendly practices in the aluminium industry, enabling the aerospace and automotive industries. First, a patented marking system that allows complete lifetime identification of origin, grade composition, and specification restrictions may be established during the melting step.
Second, the SMX marking method allows post-production validation of material durability for traceability without altering aluminium products' mechanical and physical attributes. SMX has also developed hardware for non-destructive reading of marks, monitoring marked metal throughout the production process and differentiating between marked and unmarked goods.

The system was created with assistance from international automakers and aluminium producers to satisfy specific needs for moral sourcing, high-quality manufacturing output, and accounting for recycling and reuse. Thanks to this cooperative approach, the SMX platform will align with industry demands and expectations.
A technique for precisely accounting for aluminium throughout its lifespan, from manufacture to recycling, is presented by the SMX platform. Using this strategy, material-intensive enterprises may track aluminium more efficiently while supporting ethical sourcing, transparency, and sustainability issues.
