Sintavia develops end-to-end process for 3D printing F357 aluminium

One of the leading Metal Additive Manufacturing or 3D Printing Company Sintavia, LLC has announced that it has developed full end-to-end parameters for producing additively manufactured parts in F357 aluminium, as well as other Al-Si alloys to be used in precision manufacturing.

Sintavia’s developed its exclusive process for printing F357 aluminium powder to cater to aerospace and automotive industry needs, to manufacture components with low density, good processability, and heat conductivity.  Usually, aluminium alloy parts are manufactured using traditional casting processes. But, Sintavia is expanding beyond traditional manufacturing in foundry-grade aluminium alloys to venture into additive manufacturing.

Commenting on their technology development, Doug Hedges, Sintavia’s President and COO said, “We are seeing an increased demand for additively manufactured Al-Si parts from both the aerospace and automotive industries.” “With Sintavia’s comprehensive manufacturing capabilities, we have developed processes to make F357 aluminum specimens and quickly test them to demonstrate they meet or exceed these industries’ strict validation parameters,” he added.

Sintavia’s processes are customised for critical engineering requirements. The procedure covers not only pre-build material analysis but also post-production heat treatment and stress relief.   The AM components designed by the firm exceeds original design strength by up to 125%. Sintavia’s parts are designed to survive ambient, elevated, and sub-zero temperatures.

OEMs are looking for improved quality and reduced lead times from their manufacturing supply chains. Sintavia caters to this need while offering elite powder analysis, post-processing, and mechanical testing on-site taking advantage of the speed benefits of AM.
