

Rio Tinto has confirmed that Isabelle Deschamps, its Chief Legal, Governance and Corporate Affairs Officer, will step down during 2026 after five years in the role.

Deschamps, who joined the Anglo-Australian miner in 2021, will remain in post until at least mid-2026 to ensure continuity while the company undertakes a formal succession process.

Her tenure has spanned a period of strategic repositioning for the group, during which she led legal, governance, and corporate affairs functions. Chief Executive Simon Trott said Deschamps had helped strengthen the company’s foundations, supporting future growth and reinforcing its commitment to responsible mining practices. He thanked her for her continued contribution during the transition.
Deschamps described her time at Rio Tinto as a privilege, highlighting progress in governance standards, business development, and key partnerships as the company advanced its strategy. She indicated that she plans to pursue opportunities outside the organisation.
The announcement was authorised for release to the market by Andy Hodges, Rio Tinto’s Group Company Secretary.
