
According to the latest report from Aluminum Association, shipments of can stock by domestic producers was down 5.7 per cent year-on-year to 130725 tonnes during February 2019. Compared to the previous month, shipments dropped 11.2 per cent from the January 2019 total of 147236 tonnes. Year-to-date shipments through February 2019 totalled 277961 tonnes, down 5.9 percent year-on-year from 295515 tonnes.
Compared to February 2018, producer shipments of can stock to U.S. markets rose six-tenths of one percent to 120564 tonnes. Exports stood at 10160 tonnes, a drop of 46.1 percent.

Shipments of aluminium foil by U.S. and Canadian producers stood at 33747 tonnes February 2019, off five-tenths of one percent from the February 2018 total of 33928 tonnes. Compared to the previous month, shipments decreased 6.5 per cent from the January 2019 total of 36105 tonnes. Year-to-date shipments through February 2019 totalled 69853 tonnes, up 2.5 per cent over the 2017 year-to-date total of 68174 tonnes.

Estimated net shipments of aluminium sheet and plate by U.S. and Canadian producers totalled 316199 tonnes during February 2019, up 2.5 per cent over the February 2018 total of 308533 tonnes Compared to the previous month, shipments decreased 7.0 per cent from the January 2018 revised total of 340103 tonnes. Year-to-date shipments through February 2019 totalled 656302 tonnes, up 3.0 per cent over the 2018 year-to-date total of 637342 tonnes.

Shipments of Non-heat Treatable Sheet (excluding Can Stock) rose 3.1 per cent to 107637 tonnes and shipments of all other sheet and plate increased 18.9 per cent to 77836 tonnes.
