At a refinery in Krasnoturinsk, work is continuing to modernise existing processing systems, with a new piece of equipment now in use at the site.
{alcircleadd}The facility, known as the Bogoslovsky Aluminium Plant, is part of RUSAL’s alumina production network. The latest addition is located in the section where bauxite is processed to extract aluminium oxide. This step is known as 'leaching', and it is crucial to alumina production because it determines how much usable material can be recovered, while the rest becomes residue.

The new unit is one of several planned improvements within what the company refers to as its fourth processing area, where outdated systems are being gradually replaced or modified.
From an operational perspective, the expected improvements are gradual but consistent.

Output from the plant will increase by approximately 10,000 tonnes annually, while also reducing the amount of raw materials and chemicals required in the process. Estimates suggest that once the upgrades are completed, the new unit could generate more than RUB 350 million (USD 3.80 million) annually.
Vladislav Kazachkov commented on the upgrade, “Updating the technical base of enterprises is an ongoing process in which RUSAL invests huge financial resources. But without a team of professionals who work at our base, it is difficult to imagine that this update would take place at such a pace and with such excellent results. Our metallurgists are well aware that the foundation of production is continuous modernisation, and they are confidently coping with the development of this principle."
