NALCO net profit dips 13% in the fourth quarter

NALCO had reported a net profit of USD 50.67 million for the corresponding period of FY12. Total income of the company increased marginally by 4.63% to USD 335.49 million in the fourth quarter as compared to USD 320.75 million in the corresponding period of previous fiscal.
The other income of the company, however, declined to USD 21.38 million during January-March 2013 from USD 28.57 million in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal. Total expenses of the company decreased marginally to USD 284.27 milion during the quarter under review.
The company had recorded total expenses of USD 287.69 million during the same quarter of 2011-12. For the full year ended March 31, 2013, the company reported a dip of 20% in its net profit at USD 124.52 million. The company had reported a net profit of USD 152.74 million during the previous fiscal. NALCO's net sales in the last fiscal rose by 5 % at USD 1242.767 million vis-a-vis USD 1188.14 million of FY12.
NALCO is an integrated aluminium maker, with its activities encompassing bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and casting, power generation, rail and port operations. Shares of the company closed at USD 6.208 million apiece, up 2.52 % from the previous close on BSE.
