National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), an Indian public sector company with diversified mining, power and metal operations, has bagged a highly decorated prestigious award in 2025 by tapping into various milestones. Award 1: Par Excellence 5S Award
By collaborating with the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE), the firm's Alumina Refinery, alongside the M&R Complex located in Koraput, Odisha, is provided with a 5S award under the "Par Excellence" category. This award was given by the Quality Circle Forum of India (OCFI) for effectively imposing the 5S Workplace Management System. Within this award, 5S indicates Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardise and Sustain.
By maintaining the right environmental performances, improved workplace safety and enhanced productivity, the firm's alumina refinery has not only landed the award but also showcased its continuous agility towards workplace quality and operational efficiency.

Award 2: Environment Excellence Award 2025
NALCO also bagged the Environment Excellence Award 2025 for its Captive Power Plant (CPP) under the <250 MW Coal-Based category by the Mission Energy Foundation. The award was handed to Shri Pankaj Kumar Sharma, the Director of Production at NALCO, to accept it on the firm's behalf. NALCO gained this recognition for the award because of its efforts towards emission control, responsible energy production and sustainable energy management.
Award 3: Greentech Environment Awards
The company's Panchpatmali Bauxite Mines and Alumina Refinery in Koraput were jointly awarded the Greentech Environment Awards at the 24th Global Environment and Sustainability Summit 2025.
The firm gained this prestigious award because of its commitment to environmental protection, adoption of sustainable mining practices and proactive biodiversity conservation efforts. This upholds NALCO's reputation and integrated approach to responsible mining and refining with safeguarded ecological balance in the mineral-rich regions.
