METLEN Energy & Metals plc has announced the launch of its third major transformation programme, titled “The Third Era, Progress in Motion”. The plan was presented in Athens and London on 11 November 2025 and aims to support the Group’s objective of doubling its scale in the coming years.

Under the new structure, the metals sector will continue to operate under Dimitris Stefanidis, who remains Chief Executive Director. He will oversee METLEN’s integrated aluminium value chain, the management of critical raw materials and the expansion of circular metals activities.

Leadership changes across the Group will be implemented immediately, and further from January 2026. Evangelos Mytilineos will assume the role of Group Executive Chairman, while Christos Gavalas will take over as Group CEO.

Key appointments in METLEN's leadership team include Fotini Ioannou, as Group Chief Financial Officer, and Loukas Ziomas, as Chief of Staff.

The reorganisation introduces two distinct pillars within the energy sector: a Renewables & Energy Transition Pillar led by its Chief Executive Director, Nikos Papapetrou. And a Fully Integrated Energy Utility Pillar led by Chief Executive Directors Giannis Giannakopoulos and Panagiotis Kanellopoulos. This structure reflects METLEN’s increased focus on green metallurgy, low-carbon technologies and circular business models.

In the metals segment, the company highlights its position as the operator of the European Union’s only vertically integrated bauxite, alumina and primary aluminium production unit. METLEN states that the transformation will strengthen efficiency across this chain and support long-term competitiveness. In-M Technologies, METLEN’s metallurgical defence equipment arm within the Metals Sector, will be headed by Vassilis Tsiamis as Chief Executive Director.

The Infrastructure and Concessions Sector will remain a strategic priority and will continue under the existing leadership of Evangelos Chrysafis as Executive Vice Chairman of METLEN S.A. and Chairman of METKA ATE, Dinos Benroubi as CEO of METKA ATE, and Elenos Karaindros as Chairman and CEO of M Concessions.

The senior Executive Team, which has shaped METLEN’s journey so far, is strengthened and now comprises: Sara Fideli, as Chief People Officer, Vivian Bouzali, as Chief Corporate Affairs & Communications Officer and Petros Selekos, as Chief Legal Officer. The senior team will be enhanced by Dimitris Papadopoulos in his new role as Executive Senior Advisor on Executive Chairman and Board Affairs.

According to its 2024 results, the Group recorded a turnover of €5.68 billion (USD 6.59 billion) and an EBITDA of €1.08 billion (USD 1.25 billion). METLEN says this financial base provides the foundation required to advance the strategy set out in the Third Era programme.
