Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro adds aluminium expedition hardware at ₹38m

Limited-edition G 63 combines an aluminium-panel roof rack with upgraded suspension and traction systems for more demanding off-road adventures

Mercedes-AMG has taken the G 63 beyond its familiar luxury-performance role with the launch of the G 63 Offroad Pro, a limited-edition variant priced from INR 38 million (USD 396,050) ex-showroom in India. Instead of focusing only on styling upgrades, the new version adds dedicated expedition hardware and technology aimed at making the SUV more capable away from paved roads.

One of the most practical additions is a professional roof luggage rack featuring an aluminium panel construction, along with a removable rear ladder. The setup provides greater flexibility for carrying expedition equipment and luggage, giving the G 63 a more adventure-oriented character.

The Offroad Pro also gets a suite of AMG-specific systems designed to improve stability, traction and wheel articulation on challenging terrain.

Built for more demanding terrain

The SUV features AMG Active Ride Control suspension, which uses active roll stabilisation to support off-road stability while helping improve axle articulation. The system is complemented by AMG Active Balance Control, allowing the suspension's roll stiffness to be adjusted across three stages depending on prevailing conditions.

For situations where traction becomes critical, AMG Traction Pro offers seven stages of selectable locking. The system is designed to help the G 63 maintain traction when negotiating difficult or bogged-down terrain.

The Offroad Pro rides on 20-inch matte black AMG twin-spoke light-alloy wheels with diamond-turned rim flanges and 275/50R20 tyres.

Inside, the SUV gets an off-road cockpit display that puts key information within easy reach. Drivers can view the vehicle's position, compass, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure and temperature, as well as the status of the differential locks.

Familiar V8 power stays

Despite the focus on off-road capability, Mercedes-AMG has retained the powertrain from the standard G 63.

The 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 works with a 48V mild-hybrid system to produce 577 BHP and 850 Nm of torque. Power is delivered through the company's 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.

The cabin continues with the latest MBUX NTG7 infotainment system, including augmented-reality navigation and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Nappa leather and other premium materials remain part of the interior, alongside customisable ambient lighting.

Mercedes-AMG is offering the G 63 Offroad Pro in limited numbers, although the company has not specified how many units will be available.

With its aluminium-panel roof rack, expedition-focused luggage setup and more advanced suspension and traction hardware, the Offroad Pro gives the G 63 a distinct purpose beyond simply being a high-performance luxury SUV — it is configured to carry its occupants and equipment further into demanding terrain.
