
LME aluminium opened at US$2,866 per tonne on Tuesday morning and fell due to the strengthening of the US dollar, and closed at US$2,848 per tonne, down US$13 per tonne or 0.45 percent. Open interest fell 932 lots to 261,000 lots, and trading volume was 285,000 lots.

On Tuesday, September 21, LME aluminium cash (bid) price inched by US$17 or by 0.59 percent to stand at US$2,863.50 per tonne. The LME official settlement price also surged by US$17 or by 0.59 percent to close at US$2,864 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price closed at US$2,878 per tonne and US$2,878.50 per tonne. December 22 bid price settled at US$2,728 per tonne and the offer price for the same stood at US$2,733.
LME aluminium opening stock for September 21 was recorded at 1315975 tonnes. Live warrants closed at 712200 and the cancelled warrant stood at 603775.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price settled at US$2,849.53 per tonne as of September 21.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
Benchmark aluminium SHFE plunged by US$10 per tonne to settle at US$3,506 per tonne on Wednesday, September 22.
The most-traded SHFE 2111 aluminium contract opened at RMB 22,670 per tonne last Friday, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 22,780 per tonne and RMB 22,480 per tonne before closing at RMB 22,585 per tonne, down RMB 50 per tonne or 0.22 percent.
