LME aluminium price on the rise: Cash gains nearly 1%, stocks dip to 267,800t

The London Metal Exchange (LME) aluminium prices reported further gains on the July 30 session after recovering on the July 29 session. Both cash and forward contracts reported gains in contrast to the inventories, which followed a decline.

The LME aluminium cash bid as well as offer prices gained 0.75 per cent day-on-day on July 30. The bid rose from USD 3,205 per tonne to USD 3,229 per tonne as the offer edged up from  USD 3,207 per tonne to USD 3,231 per tonne.

On July 30, the LME aluminium three-month bid price climbed from USD 3,176 per tonne on July 29 to USD 3,185 per tonne, marking a 0.28 per cent surge. The offer price recorded an improvement of about 0.32 per cent, moving from 3,177 per tonne to USD 3,187 per tonne.

On the longer-dated contracts, both the Dec-27 bid and offer prices recorded a 0.16 per cent gain over the previous session. The bid closed at USD 3,118 per tonne, up from USD 3,113 per tonne, and the offer soared to USD 3,123 per tonne from USD 3,118 per tonne.

The LME aluminium three-month reference price amounted to USD 3,195.5 per tonne on July 30, continuing the rising trend by 0.49 per cent from USD 3,180 per tonne on July 29.

Contrary to the upward trend, LME aluminium stocks recorded further decline as of July 30. The opening stocks dipped from 269,300 tonnes to 267,800 tonnes, reflecting a difference of 0.56 per cent.

Similarly, live warrants slumped from 245,350 tonnes to 245,250 tonnes, indicating a slight dip of 0.04 per cent. Cancelled warrants, too, closing at 21,050 tonnes, indicated a fall of 6.24 per cent from 22,450 tonnes.

LME alumina Platts remained unchanged at USD 337.38 per tonne on July 30.
