
Three-month LME aluminium opened at $2,831.5 per tonne on Wednesday morning and ranged between 2,829-2,924 per tonne before closing at $2,890 per tonne, an increase of $59 per tonne or 2.08 percent. Trading volume was 19,000 lots, and open interest decreased by 5,968 lots to 650,000 lots.

On Wednesday September 15, LME aluminium cash (bid) price increased by US$20.5 or by 0.72 percent to come in at US$2,867 per tonne. The LME official settlement price also increased by US$21 or by 0.73 percent to come at US$2,868 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price settled at US$2,887.50 per tonne and US$2,888 per tonne. December 22 bid price stood at US$2758 per tonne, while the offer price for the same day settled at US$2,763.
LME aluminium opening stock for September 15 stood at 1299900 tonnes. Live warrants were found to be 822900, while cancelled warrants totalled at 477000.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price closed at US$2,877.99 per tonne as of September 15.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
Benchmark aluminium for SHFE surged up by US$69 per tonne to settle at US$3,529per tonne on Thursday, September 16.
The most-traded SHFE 2110 aluminium closed down 1.25 percent to 22495 per tonne, with open interest down 47601 lots to 186000 lots.
The most-traded SHFE 2110 aluminium contract opened Wednesday’s night session at RMB 22,570 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 23,035 per tonne and RMB 22,570 per tonne before closing at RMB 22,730 per tonne up by 2.02 percent. Trading volume was 241,737 lots, and open interest increased by 463 lots to 160,000 lots.
