LME aluminium price descends by US$49.5/t to close at US$2,628.50/t; SHFE price plummets by US$98/t

Three-month LME aluminium opened at US$2,636.5 per tonne yesterday and closed at US$2,573 per tonne, a decrease of US$61.5 per tonne or 2.33 percent.

On Tuesday, November16, LME aluminium cash (bid) price plunged down by US$50 per tonne or by 1.86 percent to stand at US$2,627.50 per tonne. LME aluminium official settlement price also moved down by US$49.5 per tonne or by 1.84 percent to close at US$2,628.50 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price settled at US$2,627 per tonne and US$2,628 per tonne, respectively. December 22 bid price and December offer price for the same day totalled at US$2,580 per tonne and US$2,585 per tonne.

On November 16, LME aluminium opening stock was recorded at 959975 tonnes. Live warrants and cancelled warrants for the same day settled at 595825 tonnes and 364150 tonnes.

LME aluminium3-month Asian Reference Price closed at US$2,621.57 per tonne, as of November 16.

SHFE Aluminium Price Trend

On Wednesday, November 17, the benchmark aluminium price for SHFE descended by US$98 per tonne to close at US$2,885 per tonne.

The most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium closed down RMB 745 per tonne to RMB 18705 per tonne, with open interest up 39984 lots to 218093 lots.

Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2201 aluminium contract opened at RMB 18,600 per tonne, with the lowest and highest at RMB 18,320 per tonne and RMB 18,760 per tonne before closing at RMB 18,345 per tonne, down RMB 360per tonne, or 1.92 percent.
