
Three-month LME aluminium opened at US$2,890 per tonne on Thursday morning and ranged between 2,850-2,910 per tonne before closing at US$2,890.5 per tonne, an increase of US$0.5 per tonne or 0.02 percent. Trading volume was 16,000 lots, and open interest decreased by 3,968 lots to 646,000 lots.

On Friday September 17, LME aluminium cash (bid) price increased by US$45.5 or by 1.58 percent to settle at US$2,914 per tonne. The LME official settlement price also inched up by US$46 or by 1.60 percent to come in at US$2,915 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3 month offer price stood at US$2,926.50 per tonne and US$2,927 per tonne. December 22 bid price stood at US$2,758 per tonne and the offer price for the same day settled at US$2,763.
LME aluminium opening stock for September 17 stood at 1327725 tonnes. Live warrants were recorded at 834625 and the cancelled warrant closed at 493100.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price settled at US$2,877.75 per tonne as of September 17.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
SMM officials are closed for the Mid-Autumn Festivals holidays from September 19 to September 21, 2021.
On Friday, September 17 SHFE aluminium decreased by US$13 per tonne to settle at US$3,516 per tonne.
The most-traded SHFE 2111 aluminium closed down 0.22 percent 50 to RMB 22585 per tonne, with open interest down 932 lots to 261000 lots.
Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2110 aluminium contract opened at RMB 22,530 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 22,805 per tonne and RMB 22,425 per tonne before closing at RMB 22,640 per tonne, down by 0.13 percent. Trading volume was 15,080 lots, and open interest decreased by 3,527 lots to 142,000 lots.
