JLR highlights automotive aluminium

Dr White gave a clear message on the value of using aluminium in Jaguar Land Rover products, calling it the "best value material as an alternative to steel". The all-new Range Rover, launched in 2012, was cited as an example of the ongoing light-weighting programme at Jaguar Land Rover, reducing vehicle weight by more than 400kg whilst improving performance and specification associated with this high-end product. The weight saving has been a key factor in reducing tail pipe emissions and entire lifecycle carbon footprint of the vehicle. Up to 50% of all aluminium used is recycled material, with a target of 75% by 2020. The message was clear - Jaguar Land Rover have found a material to take their product range through the next generation of vehicles.
