In the month of April, China imported a total of 595,900 mt of alumina, a rise of 85.43% since last year. YTD imports totaled 2.08 mn mt in April and were up by 53.34% YoY.
The increase in the total volumes of import was driven by other countries except Australia. China imported 199,700 mt of alumina from Brazil, India, Vietnam and Jamaica, April being the first time in 2014 China imported alumina from Jamaica and Brazil.
