ICSOBA Conference and Exhibition to be held in Dubai from 29 Nov - 1 Dec

The 33rd ICSOBA Conference and Exhibition will take place in the Rotana Al Murooj hotel in Dubai, UAE in the period of 29 November - 1 December. For the event ICSOBA (International Committee for Study of Bauxite, Alumina and Aluminium) cooperates with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the jointly-held, equal-ownership company integrating the businesses of Dubai Aluminium (DUBAL) and Emirates Aluminium (EMAL). Technical field trips to DUBAL smelter (Dubai) and EMAL Smelter (Abu Dhabi) will take place on November 29, 2015.

ICSOBA was established in 1963 and is an independent non-profit association that unites industry professionals representing major bauxite, alumina and aluminium producing companies, technology suppliers, researchers and consultants from around the world. As ICSOBA travels the globe, it provides a unique forum for discussions and plant visits, allowing its members to see major bauxite & aluminium production centres, to learn and share know-how from research and current practices. Goa (India), Belem (Brazil), Krasnoyarsk (Russia) and Zhengzhou (China) – they mark recent stops on ICSOBA global mission.

Preparations for the event in Dubai are in full swing and so far 108 different presentations highlighting recent technological progress have been offered in all fields covering bauxite, bauxite residue, alumina, carbon, electrolysis and downstream. Delegates representing 21 countries from all major producers and suppliers in the aluminium business, as well as several universities have confirmed their participation.

ICSOBA has never been to the Middle East before, and therefore this year conference is of historic proportions. Next year ICSOBA conference will take place in Quebec, Canada from 2 - 6 October 2016. Rio Tinto Alcan has confirmed host sponsorship and will facilitate two plant visits in the Saguenay region of Quebec.
