Hindalco’s Hirakud and Aditya Aluminium bag Odisha pollution control awards

Hindalco Industries, the metals flagship of the Aditya Birla Group, has made a record in environmental upkeep and performance. It has received two 2026 pollution control awards from the State Pollution Control Board (SPCB), Odisha), recognising the company’s pollution control measures, environmental management and responsible industrial practices at its Odisha operations.

Hindalco’s Hirakud Smelter & Power received the “Pollution Control Appreciation Award 2026” in the Industry Category, and Aditya Aluminium secured the “MK Rout Pollution Control Excellence Award 2026” in the Industrial Township Category.

The Pollution Control Appreciation Award 2026 recognised Hirakud Smelter & Power for its pollution control measures and environmental management practices.

The award was received by Pratap Sahu, Plant Head, Hirakud Smelter; Ardhendu Mohapatra, Head of Corporate Affairs, Soubhagya K Tripathy, Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs, and Ranjan Jena, Head of Environment.

Aditya Aluminium received the MK Rout Pollution Control Excellence Award 2026 in the Industrial Township Category, also for its pollution control measures and environmental management practices.

The award was received by Jagannath P Nayak, Unit Head, Aditya Aluminium; Ardhendu Mohapatra, Head of Corporate Affairs, Soubhagya K Tripathy, Deputy Head of Corporate Affairs, Lalit Charan, and Shyamlendu Mohapatra.

The award distribution was carried out at the 43rd Foundation Day celebration of the State Pollution Control Board, Odisha, held in Bhubaneswar on September 18. Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia, Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Labour and ESI, presented the awards in the presence of senior government officials, environmental authorities and industry representatives.

Among those attending the ceremony were Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, Principal Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department, Dr K Murugesan, PCCF & HoF, Odisha, Dr Manoj V Nair, Member Secretary, SPCB, and Prof Pravat Kumar Roul, Vice Chancellor, OUAT.

The twin recognitions highlight Hindalco’s focus on environmental responsibility, sustainable manufacturing and operational excellence, while reflecting its efforts to strengthen environmental performance and support responsible industrial growth, as ventured by Hirakud and Aditya Aluminium, in Odisha.
