Gulf Extrusions witnessed three-fold increase in its India exports

Gulf Extrusions, one of the largest aluminum extrusion plants in the Gulf region, has witnessed a three-fold increase in its export volumes to the Indian market in the first two quarters of 2012, said a senior official.

A part of the Al Ghurair Group of Companies, Gulf Extrusions produces aluminum extruded profiles ranging from architectural sections to components for air conditioning grills, furniture, marine applications, transportation, automotive, and customized products.

On the export growth, general manager Modar Al Mekdad said: "The surge in demand in new export markets as well as the consistently strong performance achieved in traditional markets across the Middle East have prompted Gulf Extrusions to boost its production capacity this year."

He pointed out that the Indian market had been particularly impressive with exports expected to triple this year alone.

"In response to rapidly growing demand in key export markets the exports to India have increased by 300 per cent in 2012 compared to last year, establishing the Indian market as a key destination in the global expansion strategy of the company," Al Mekdad stated.

"Gulf Extrusions will continue with its strategy of increasing production capacity to give us greater flexibility to expand in new export markets, reach new geographical territories and diversify our product portfolio," he added.

The GCC and African markets have likewise contributed to the increase in production with projected growth rates of 7 per cent and 6 per cent, respectively, in 2012.

Gulf Extrusions also pointed out that the increase in production is part of the company’s strategy of diversifying its product range and markets to cater to a much wider customer base across different industry sectors such as construction, oil and gas, marine, automotive and telecom.
