The Aluminum Association’s Foil Division began its Aluminum Foil Packaging Lecture Series in 2007 sponsored by the Aluminum Association and the Aluminum Foil Container Manufacturers Association. The series was a chance to travel to different universities and speak with soon to be packaging professionals about the benefits of aluminum foil.

This month, Dr Robert Testin the series first lecturer announced he is stepping down. He finished his 2010 to 2011 series with visits to Clemson University, University of Florida, Michigan State University, University of Wisconsin Stout, San Jose State University, Cal Poly State University, Rochester Institute of Technology and Penn State University.

Dr Testin is a former Professor and Chair Emeritus of Clemson University’s Department of Packaging Science a program he developed. Prior to his teaching days, Dr Testin spent 18 years with Reynolds Metals Company in Richmond, Virginia, where he held a number of technical management positions. He also spent several years at Batelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio, conducting research in the areas of resource recovery and air and water pollution control.

Mr J Coke Williams will take over the lecture series beginning this fall. Mr Williams has 34 years of experience in the aluminum industry. At Alcan Aluminum Corporation, he held positions including account management, marketing, metal management, planning and development. In 2005, Novelis spun off from Alcan and Williams served as North American Foil Market Director where he was responsible for developing and coordinating North America’s aluminum foil and foil container markets. Mr Williams has served as Chairman of the Aluminum Association’s Foil Division and is current Chairman for the Recycling Committee at AFCMA. He is also past President and board member for AFCMA and will become its Executive Secretary Treasurer in June.
