Every Can Counts U.S., in partnership with National Links Trust, has launched a new aluminium beverage recycling initiative at East Potomac Golf Links. This initiative is the first golf course activation for Every Can Counts U.S., launched to help golfers and visitors recycle the aluminium beverage cans instead of throwing them away.

The joint venture has introduced two DC-themed recycling cages, along with the recycling bins and various awareness signage, in the East Potomac Golf Links. These help visitors on the golf course to recycle the aluminium cans at every turn.
Tim Ebner, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Can Manufacturers Institute and a lead organiser of the Every Can Counts U.S. chapter, said, “Public golf courses are green spaces where communities and sustainability intersect. Through this new pilot programme with National Links Trust, we are showing that small actions — like recycling your used aluminium beverage can — make an enormous difference. Aluminium beverage cans are the most sustainable beverage package on virtually every measure, and the revenue generation of this programme is unique to beverage cans, given their relatively high scrap value.”
The visitors to East Potomac Golf Links can now use the green colour recycling bins to dump the cans. The cans collected from this recycling initiative would be sold for aluminium scrap value at Potomac Metals, Inc. The money generated from the recycling of the aluminium cans would be used to support the sustainable goals of the golf course programme.

Andrew Szunyog, Director of Sustainability at National Links Trust, has added to the notion, “We’re excited to partner with Every Can Counts to bring more visible and effective recycling opportunities to East Potomac Golf Links. Our golfers care deeply about this course and the environment. Thanks to the new recycling bins and the DC-themed recycling cages, visitors now have a fun, easy, and accessible way to take part in recycling used beverage cans that will eventually help support our future programmes.”
