
The most industrialized state in Central America, El Salvador’s major industries contributing to the country’s economy are food processing, beverages, petroleum, chemicals, fertilizer, textiles, furniture, light metals, etc. The major exports are textiles, chemicals, rubber, plastics and metallic products, however, it is also a traditional exporter of sugar and coffee.

The nation which is highly dependent on agriculture, El Salvador imported 5525 tonnes of aluminium foil during 2019-20, as the state has demand for the aluminium product for its food processing industries, incurring a revenue expenditure of $21.58 million from the import.

El Salvador’s import of aluminium foils in 2019 was documented at 2769 tonnes, with expenditure accounting for $11.24 million, whereas, in 2020, the importation of aluminium foil revealed a negligible dip by 0.46%, as the import volume marginally dropped to 2756 tonnes and the expenditure also dragged down to $10.34 million.
The import of aluminium foil for 2021 again sees an upturn of 1.56%, as the import volume is expected to reach 2799 tonnes and the expenditure to stand at $12.09 million.
The major trading nations for El Salvador’s import of aluminium foil are Armenia, Chile, Costa Rica, China, Germany, Peru, Italy, USA, etc.
