Demand for processed aluminum unibody chassis to remain until 2014

Based on talks about chassis orders for the second half of 2014, demand for aluminum unibody chassis processed using CNC tools will continue until then for use in mid-range and high-end slim consumer electronics, according to Taiwan-based chassis makers.
The sources pointed out that most makers are currently landing orders for the second half of 2014, and based on client product roadmaps, metal chassis will remain a mainstream specification in the future.
Aluminum is currently still the best material for creating unibody chassis, the sources noted. Although many makers have developed carbon fiber-reinforced plastic chassis to substitute aluminum ones, they are still unlikely to do so in the short term due to their difference in rigidness.
