China alumina spot prices fall in tandem with bauxite prices

China alumina spot prices fell for the second day in a week after registering a drop this Monday. As updated by Shanghai Metals Market, average alumina spot price in China domestic market stood at RMB 3480 per tonne on November 28, down from RMB 3496 per tonne on November 27.

The spot alumina prices in four major regional markets as on November 28 are as follows:

Chalco alumina price showed no change and held grounds at RMB 3770 per tonne. Imported alumina price also dropped by RMB 15 per tonne to range at RMB 3420-3520 per tonne as on November 28.

Further upstream, bauxite prices also fell in China domestic market. From RMB 435 per tonne on November 20, average bauxite price dropped to RMB 415 per tonne on November 27.

Bauxite (6.0≤Al/Si＜7.0) Henan price is ranging at RMB 460 per tonne while Bauxite (4.5≤Al/Si＜5.5) Shanxi is at RMB 280-360 per tonne range. Bauxite CIF remains unchanged at RMB 45.4 per tonne. The declining price trends of aluminium key raw materials partly explain the drop in Aluminium A00 ingot prices. Down by RMB 180 per tonne, aluminium ingot price is ranging at RMB 14,580-14,620 per tonne. The average A00 ingot price stands at RMB 14,600 per tonne as on November 28.
