Canyon Resources Ltd. discovered a cluster of high-grade, low-containment bauxite trend within its existing resource at Minim Martap Project in Cameroon, said the company’s chief geologist Alexander Shaw.

The company reportedly identified this bauxite trend through detailed analysis of remote sensing imagery and previous drilling and field mapping.
“We have identified three high-grade bauxite plateaux within the corridor and there is significant potential to identify additional high-grade plateaux along this highly-prospective trend,” said Mr. Shaw.
The previous drilling across the high-grade bauxite trend’s three identified plateaux containing resources of 14.51 million tonnes with 49.09% bauxite and 2.35% silica.
This month, the company is planning to begin drilling again along with the discovered trend, targeting to produce a bauxite resource of more than 200 million tonnes at greater than 50 per cent bauxite and with very low silica content.
“We are planning to commence drilling with Canyon’s own drilling rig to test this as soon as possible. Drilling will be ongoing for the remainder of the dry season, which in this part of Cameroon, is expected to end in July 2019,” said Shaw further.
The trend is along a northeast to southwest-orientated corridor in the north-western quadrant of Minim Martap’s licence area.
Canyon believes there’s a huge opportunity to find a substantial upgrade to the high-grade portion of bauxite at Minim Martap’s resource as less than 30 per cent of the plateaux within the corridor has been tested.
While Local community and stakeholder are already working towards the new initiative, Canyon is completing an assessment of the project’s infrastructure options and initial on-ground environmental survey.
