Bechtel judges Hydratight in top 1% of suppliers
Hydratight was honoured recently among 47 vendors for its performance during the 2011 year, as a result of nomination by Bechtel’s project management teams in the field.
Bechtel annually works with an estimated 13,000 vendors on its projects globally, which puts Hydratight in the top one percent of suppliers to the global EPC giant, which has annual revenues exceeding $US32 billion.
Bechtel is building Gladstone’s three LNG plants, and has undertaken major projects such as expansions at PWCS and Rio Tinto’s Comalco Alumina Refinery.
Hydratight, headquartered in the US, employs 7,500 people worldwide. While its origins go back to 1898, the modern company came into being in 2005 when Actuant acquired and merged Hedley Purvis and Hydratight Sweeney.
The company’s Australian operations are based in Perth.
Bechtel said each business was measured under four criteria: safety, execution, schedule and the ability to adapt to circumstances.
“It was an honour to accept the award on behalf of the employees at Hydratight,” said Hydratight business development manager, Steve Earney.
“This Award is a reflection of our entire employees’ hard work to support Bechtel on their critical projects and working safely. When I accepted on behalf of Hydratight, I mentioned that I look forward to coming back next year.”
The commercial leader of Hydratight in Australia, Neil Ferguson, said the award was an outstanding endorsement of the broad range of Hydratight services available in Australia and globally.
“Bechtel employs our entire suite of services across its operations, including the latest in-place heat treatment services introduced to Australia to enhance the strength, safety and durability of welded structures essential to industries including oil and gas, mining and energy, metals fabrication and infrastructure construction.
“The services combine the most advanced portable heat treatment equipment and field technicians to deliver accurate and affordable on-site resistance heat treatment and induction heat treatment services.”
