The State Cabinet in its meeting held yesterday, February 21, has approved the amendment of the long-term linkage policy to facilitate bauxite linkage. Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said 70 per cent of the saleable stock of bauxite will be made available for long-term linkage and the balance 30 per cent sold through national e-auction. Padhi said: “As a general principle in the national e-auction, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) will directly deal with the end-user industries. The government has planned to send demand notices to the non-ferrous mine leaseholders for extracting beyond the approved limits. A government official said: “The demand notices would be sent to the non-ferrous lessees in staggered form in respect of violations of environment clearance, forest clearance and other statutory non-compliance. UWC won an international tender organized by RUSAL, one of the world’s largest aluminium producers. Freight cars will be used to transport bauxites from Dian-Dian deposit in the Boké Region.
