After the limited allowance of ore export in Indonesia, state-owned diversified miner PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) has obtained a new permit recommendation from Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry for bauxite and nickel exports. This will support their plans to boost production and sales of bauxite and nickel in 2018. Bauxite mining operations, which was delayed by up to one week due to arrival of Tropical Cyclone Nora, is now scheduled to commence the week of 9 April 2018. It is not expected that this delay will have any impact on the 2018 production target, Metro Mining updated. Bauxite mining operations, which was due to commence during the week beginning 2nd April, has been delayed by up to one week due to arrival of Tropical Cyclone Nora. However, the 2018 production target for the project remains unchanged, Metro Mining reported today. Mineral Resources Minister of Fiji Faiyaz Koya says that payments of $1.7m revenue were paid to the landowners in Nawailevu, Bua and Naibiulu and $781,000 was paid to the government. Amidst the uncertainty over the restarting of mining operations in Pahang, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar announced that the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for bauxite mining activities in Pahang is expected to be completed by June 2018.
