Ball Corporation reported a stronger second quarter for 2026 as higher demand for aluminium beverage packaging lifted global shipment volumes, supporting earnings growth and reinforcing the company's long-term outlook for sustainable aluminium packaging.

Global aluminium packaging shipments increased 4.3 per cent year-on-year during the quarter, accelerating from the previous quarter and driven by higher beverage can demand across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South America. The company also benefited from growing preference for recyclable aluminium packaging, while higher beverage consumption during the football World Cup supported can demand in several markets.

Ball reported comparable net earnings of USD 276 million, or USD 1.03 per diluted share, in the second quarter of 2026, up from USD 251 million, or 90 cents per diluted share, in the corresponding quarter of 2025.

Comparable operating earnings also increased 7.7 per cent year on year to USD 433 million, compared with USD 402 million a year earlier.

"Ball delivered another quarter of strong results, reflecting the consistent execution of our strategy and continued progress toward our long-term objectives," said Ron Lewis, Chief Executive Officer.

"Higher volumes and operating earnings were driven by the strength of our customer partnerships, disciplined commercial and operational execution, and the resilience of a business model we have built over decades," he stated.

Regional aluminium packaging business records higher shipments

Ball's beverage packaging operations reported volume growth across all major regions during the quarter.

In North and Central America, sales rose to USD 2 billion from USD 1.61 billion, reflecting higher aluminium packaging volumes and favourable price mix linked to aluminium prices. Comparable operating earnings were USD 207 million, with higher operating and plant start-up costs partly offsetting the stronger sales performance.

The EMEA business increased comparable operating earnings to USD 162 million from USD 152 million, supported by higher shipments, favourable pricing and contributions from the acquired Benepack business.

South America delivered the strongest growth, with comparable operating earnings rising to USD 82 million from USD 50 million, driven by double-digit shipment growth and favourable price mix.

Ball targets sustained aluminium packaging growth in 2026

The company said it remains focused on expanding its global aluminium packaging business through operational discipline, customer partnerships and sustainable packaging innovation.

During the first six months of 2026, Ball returned USD 222 million to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases and expects to return at least USD 800 million by the end of the year.

Looking ahead, Ball reaffirmed its guidance for more than 10 per cent comparable EPS growth and free cash flow exceeding USD 900 million in 2026.

"Our global portfolio of sustainable packaging solutions and focus on operational excellence position us to continue creating value for customers and shareholders through innovation, efficiency and disciplined growth," Lewis mentioned.
