Average alumina spot price in China further slumps by RMB55/t, but A00 aluminium ingot price grows to RMB18780/t

The average alumina spot price in China has continued to fall on December 6, 2021, by RMB 55 per tonne to RMB 3,248 per tonne, found the Shanghai Metals Market. This marks the eighth consecutive working day of decline.

In Shandong and Shanxi, alumina spot price has slumped by RMB 75 per tonne and RMB 65 per tonne, respectively, to come in at RMB 3,350 per tonne and RMB 3,250 per tonne. In Henan, alumina price has decreased by RMB 55 per tonne to RMB 3,260 per tonne, while the price in Guizhou and Guangxi has slipped by RMB 25 per tonne to peg at RMB 3,250 per tonne and RMB 3,075 per tonne, learned SMM.

Australian alumina FOB price, on the other hand, has remained restrained at US$385 per tonne since November 25.

Among the other primary aluminium input costs, bauxite (4.5≤Al/Si＜5.5) price in Shanxi and Henan has inched down by RMB 5 per tonne to settle at RMB 487.50 per tonne and RMB 495 per tonne, respectively. The average prices of the former are likely to range between RMB 475-500 per tonne, while that of the latter are estimated to range between RMB 480-510 per tonne.

However, despite the decrease in primary aluminium input costs, A00 aluminium ingot price has not shied away from recording a rise of RMB 90 per tonne to open the week on Monday, December 6, at RMB 18,780 per tonne. The average prices are estimated to range between RMB 18,760 per tonne and RMB 18,800 per tonne, with spot contract to be traded at a premium price of RMB 70-30 per tonne.

In Chongqing, A00 aluminium ingot price has hiked by RMB 150 per tonne to stand at RMB 18,890 per tonne, while the price in Linyi and Shenyang has climbed by RMB 100 per tonne and RMB 90 per tonne to RMB 18,870 per tonne and RMB 18,740 per tonne, respectively. In Foshan, the primary aluminium price has also registered an increase of RMB 90 per tonne but to stand at RMB 18,890 per tonne. In Hangzhou and Wuxi, the primary aluminium ingot price has moved up by RMB 85 per tonne and RMB 80 per tonne to close at RMB 18,780 per tonne and RMB 18,770 per tonne.

Aluminium alloys prices, on the other hand, have recorded no change from the respectively price on December 6, 2021.
