Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has certified Alu-Met GmbH against Performance Standard Certification for re-melting and casthouse operations at Aluminium GmbH Nachrodt plant in Nachrodt, Germany. The facility has a total annual capacity of 75,000 tonnes of extrusion billets of 6000 alloy series made from a feedstock primarily composed of recycled aluminium. In China, primary aluminium production stood at 3.32 million tonnes in January, registering an increase of 1.22 per cent month-on-month from 3.28 million tonnes in December and 8.14 per cent year-on-year, showed Shanghai Metals Market. According to the Shanghai Metals Market, China’s alumina production started the year with a drop of 1 per cent month-on-month in January 2021. According to the latest data shown by the US Geological Survey, India’s aluminium scrap imports from the United States dropped in November 2020 after five consecutive months of growth during June-October 2020. Data shows India imported 30,300 tonnes of aluminium scrap from the United States in November, down by 8,400 tonnes or 21.71 per cent from 38,700 tonnes in October. However, on a year-on-year basis, India’s aluminium scrap imports from the US in November 2020 stood 29.49 per cent higher than 23,400 tonnes. Guinean mining logistics company United Mining Supply (UMS) is looking for sourcing alumina to produce specialty alumina at Alteo plant in France. This news came in late January after UMS chairman Fadi Wazni told S&P Global Platts. UMS took over the charge of Alteo’s production site near the southern city of Marseille in early January.
