Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has certified Alu-Met GmbH against Performance Standard Certification for re-melting and casthouse operations at Aluminium GmbH Nachrodt plant in Nachrodt, Germany. The facility has a total annual capacity of 75,000 tonnes of extrusion billets of 6000 alloy series made from a feedstock primarily composed of recycled aluminium.

The news came after ASI declared it while adding that the plant has received Provisional Certification under the ASI Interim Policy regarding Audits, Audit-Related Travel, and current COVID-19 situation.
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, said: “We warmly congratulate Alu-Met on the ASI Performance Standard certification with provisional status of their Aluminium GmbH Nachrodt facility. This second Performance Standard Certification further demonstrates the company’s commitment to operating their aluminium recycling operations in a responsible manner, and combined with their recycled-content billets, supports ASI’s vision of maximizing the contribution of aluminium to a sustainable society.”
Dr. Frank Müller and Dr. Gerhard Anger, General Managers of Alu-Met GmbH, commented: “After receiving the ASI Performance Standard certification for Speedline Aluminium in 2020, we are very proud to announce the successful certification for our German production plant in Nachrodt. The Performance Standard certificate underlines the full commitment of the entire group to sustainable environmental, social and governance principles, while we are looking forward to the next steps ahead of us. Our mother company Alu-met GmbH is in progress to complete the CoC Standard certification this year, which shows our full commitment to the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative.”
The independent, third-party audit of the Aluminium GmbH Nachrodt facility was performed by TUV Rheinland Cert GmbH.
