Alumina production in Africa & Asia (ex-China) records M-o-M fall of 6% to 1.063MT in June 2021
In Africa & Asia (ex-China), alumina production during June 2021 stood at 1.063 million tonnes, reflecting a month-on-month downfall of 6.26 per cent from 1.134 million tonnes. However, on a year-on-year basis, the output stood higher by 4.83 per cent from 1.014 million tonnes. Africa & Asia’s total alumina production during the second quarter of 2021 came in at 2.246 million tonnes, down by 28.59 per cent from 3.145 million tonnes in Q1 2021. According to the recent data released by the International Aluminium Institute, world alumina production in June 2021 stood at 11.695 million tonnes. That was a month-on-month decline of 4.26 per cent from 12.216 million tonnes but a year-on-year increase of 6.14 per cent from 10.990 million tonnes. Australian recyclers to start kerbside aluminium coffee capsules recycling facility
Australian recyclers, iQ Renew and CurbCycle, will reportedly partner with Mosman and Willoughby councils to facilitate a trial for aluminium coffee capsules recycling, which will help inform the development of a national coffee capsule recycling scheme, led by Planet Ark. Specially designed orange bags will be sent to 5000 participating households in the trial areas to collect used aluminium capsules. The participants can then place the bags in their kerbside recycling bins for collection. Stora Enso and Tetra Pak to build repulping lines to recover and separately recycle polymers and aluminium of beverage cartons
According to a recent report, Stora Enso and Tetra Pak will enter into a partnership to jointly provide circular solutions to the market. The partnership, that follows a comprehensive feasibility study, will introduce a large-scale carton repulping line at Stora Enso’s Ostroleka production unit in Poland, investing Euro 29.1 million in total.
