
According to the International Aluminium Institute, primary aluminium production in East & Central Europe stood at 340,000 tonnes during June 2021. That was down by 11,000 tonnes or 3.13 per cent month-on-month from 351,000 tonnes but same as the output in June 2020. Production in May 2021 was, however, up month-on-month by 10,000 tonnes or 2.93 per cent from 341,000 tonnes.

Total production of primary aluminium in East and Central Europe during the second quarter of 2021 came in at 1.032 million tonnes, which was 0.68 per cent higher than 1.025 million tonnes during the previous quarter. But on a year-on-year calculation, primary aluminium output in East & Central Europe was almost flat compared to 1.033 million tonnes.
In the first half of 2021, primary aluminium production in East & Central Europe totalled 2.057 million tonnes, down by 0.82 per cent from 2.074 million tonnes a year ago.
In West Europe, primary aluminium production in June 2021 stood at 270,000 tonnes – 7.53 per cent less than 292,000 tonnes in May and 1.46 per cent than 274,000 tonnes in June 2020.
In Q2 2021, aluminium production in West Europe amounted to 843,000 tonnes, up 1.32 per cent from 832,000 tonnes in Q1 2021 and 0.96 per cent from 835,000 tonnes in Q2 2020.
In the first half of 2021, primary aluminium production in West Europe totalled 1.675 million tonnes, down by 0.36 per cent from 1.669 million tonnes during the same period last year.
