Alumina production in West Europe declines 2% Q-o-Q to 1.380MT in 2Q2021; Output in East & Central Europe grows 3% to 1.199MT
During June 2021, alumina production in West Europe increased by 6,000 tonnes or 1. 28 per cent month-on-month to come in at 473,000 tonnes, found the International Aluminium Institute. In May, the output was at 467,000 tonnes, gaining 27,000 tonnes from the previous month. However, on a year-on-year calculation, alumina production in West Europe in June 2021 edged 1.05 per cent lower than 478,000 tonnes. During the second quarter of 2021, alumina production in West Europe totalled 1.380 million tonnes, down by 2.06 per cent from 1.409 million tonnes in Q1 2021 and 2.89 per cent from 1.421 million tonnes in Q2 2020. According to report on Thursday, July 29, bauxite miner Canyon Resources has appointed Foster Stockbroking to manage a $4 million raise for the company. The amount is for funding a feasibility study. As per the report, 8¢ per share or a 14 per cent discount to the last trading price has been offered for the public raise. Bids are due on Thursday, 5 PM. Besides, Canyon Resources has already secured a commitment from existing major shareholder and non-executive director Peter Su, which, however, is subject to shareholder approval.
