Atomik AM, a trailblazing UK spinout from the University of Liverpool, has secured a £600,000 (US$760,000) boost from the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II to supercharge its growth. Founded by renowned additive manufacturing expert Professor Kate Black, Atomik AM is set to scale its cutting-edge manufacturing solutions with this fresh injection of capital.

The funding, provided by NPIF II – Praetura Equity Finance and managed by Praetura Ventures, will fuel a 40 per cent team expansion and support the company's move into larger premises, marking a major leap forward in its mission to revolutionise advanced manufacturing.

Hot on the heels of a £125,000($158,337.5)investment from LYVA Labs earlier this year, Atomik AM has secured fresh momentum in its mission to transform metal 3D printing. The Liverpool City Region Combined Authority-backed funding helped kick-start the commercialisation of the company's innovative metal binder jetting solutions, supported new IP development, and strengthened its growing team.

But Atomik AM's ambitions don't stop at manufacturing. The company is collaborating with clean tech specialist Cygnus Atratus to explore how aluminium 3D printing waste can be repurposed to generate clean energy tying directly into its mission to create sustainable, circular manufacturing models.

Founded in 2022, Atomik AM takes a solution-driven approach to advanced manufacturing, pioneering new techniques and specially formulated binders that enhance the efficiency and precision of metal binder jetting. One of its flagship innovations—the Universal Binder—is currently undergoing the patenting process and aims to reshape the way metals are 3D printed across industries.

Professor Black, CEO and Founder of Atomik AM said, "At Atomik AM, we believe that true innovation starts with putting materials and sustainability first. This investment will allow us to grow our team and scale our patented technologies, accelerating our ability to deliver cleaner, more efficient manufacturing solutions. From our base in Liverpool, we're proud to lead this transformation and work with global partners to set a new benchmark for sustainable, materials-led innovation in advanced manufacturing."

In a conversation with TCT last year, founder Professor Kate Black encapsulated the company's ethos: "agile manufacturing for a sustainable future." With cutting-edge technology and a bold vision, Atomik AM is proving that additive manufacturing isn't just about making parts—it's about reshaping the industry's future.
