Anheuser-Busch has announced a new partnership effort with the National Volunteer Fire Council to distribute more than 1.5 million cans of emergency drinking water to volunteer fire departments across the United States ahead of the summer wildfire season.

The emergency water supply will be distributed to more than 630 volunteer fire departments across 45 states through Anheuser-Busch’s network of brewery and wholesaler partners.

According to the company, more than 60 per cent of firefighters in the United States are volunteers, many of whom operate with limited department budgets and resources.
The donated water is intended to support firefighters during emergency response operations while helping departments reduce spending on essential supplies.
Cesar Vargas, Chief External Affairs Officer of the company, said, “Anheuser-Busch is proud to periodically pause brewing beer at several of our breweries in order to produce clean emergency drinking water that is then provided to volunteer firefighters across the country.”

Anheuser-Busch said the partnership with the volunteer fire council builds on its long-running disaster relief work in the United States. The company has worked with the American Red Cross on disaster relief initiatives since 1906.
Since partnering with the volunteer fire council in 2019, the company said it has delivered nearly 12 million cans of emergency drinking water through more than 3,700 deliveries across almost all 50 states.
Steve Hirsch, Chair of the NVFC, said the donations help volunteer firefighters remain safe and hydrated during active incidents while reducing financial pressure on departments with limited resources. He expressed himself by saying, “We’re grateful to Anheuser-Busch and its wholesaler partners for their continued commitment to providing first responders with the essential resources needed to protect their communities.”

The emergency drinking water is produced at the company’s breweries in Cartersville and Fort Collins, where beer production is periodically paused to manufacture canned water supplies.
According to the company, more than 100 million cans of emergency drinking water have been donated since 1988 for communities affected by or preparing for disasters.
