Aluminum tube plant to open in Kentucky
The Mars, Pennsylvania-based company said it will invest more than $3.3 million to establish the manufacturing operation and create up to 50 jobs over the next few years, according to a statement released by the governor's office. It did not disclose a precise timetable for starting manufacturing or the factory's expected capacity, and company officials could not be reached for comment.
Beshear said Structures' primary focus will be the manufacturing of aluminum and steel tubes for use in the transportation, light rail and utility/transmission industries. VSI selected Kentucky over locations in several other states.
To encourage that decision, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority gave preliminary approval to the company for up to $200,000 in state tax incentives through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the term of the agreement through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.
