Aluminum demand in the U.S. and Canada rose 7.1 percent in the first five months of 2012 from a year earlier to an estimated 9.668 billion pounds (4.39 million metric tons), according to the Aluminum Association.
North American production declined 3.1 percent in June to an annual rate of 4.845 million tons, compared with a year earlier, the industry group said today in an e-mailed report.
