
The Aluminium Association’s “Index of Net New Orders of Aluminium Mill Products” for September dropped 5.6 per cent from the previous month. As a whole, new order for all aluminium mill products saw a drop in the U.S. and Canada month on month. Orders for flat roll products dropped 4.8 per cent, while orders for extruded products decreased 8.7 per cent and orders for redraw rod were down 7.0 per cent. On a YOY comparison orders recorded a jump of 2.1 per cent from September 2015.
Average orders recorded by domestic producers from January to September 2016 were up 1.6 per cent over 2015.
Note: The Aluminium Association confirms that the 21 companies that participate in the survey represent between 80-85 per cent of industry shipments, however these companies may not be representative of the entire industry.

Producer inventories (Ingot, scrap other product outputs by US and Canadian producers) stand at 2,957 million pounds in August which record a slight drop from the August 2016 level of 2,978 million pounds. On a YOY comparison, producer inventories dropped 3.9 per cent.
