Alumina powder production in Iran hits 96,685 tonnes from March to August: IMIDRO

Iran's alumina powder production reached 96,685 tons in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year, running from March 20 to August 21, as reported by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organisation (IMIDRO). Despite ongoing economic and geopolitical challenges, this steady output reflects the country's commitment to maintaining a robust position in the global alumina market.

The alumina sector, vital for Iran's aluminium industry, continues to play a key role in the country's industrial strategy. In 2023, it was reported that 80 per cent of Iran's domestic demand for alumina was met through imports, which cost $1 billion annually.
On the global stage, alumina prices have shown signs of strengthening, driven by supply constraints and increasing demand in the downstream aluminium markets.
