
In Europe (incl. Russia), alumina output during the second quarter of 2023 was recorded at 1.59 million tonnes, with an accumulated daily production for three months at 52,400 tonnes, found the International Aluminium Institute data. These figures indicate a sequential rise of 1.53 per cent in quarterly production compared to 1.566 million tonnes but a muted daily output against 52,300 tonnes.

However, amid a rise in quarterly output, production in June 2023 edged a 6.25 per cent fall month-on-month from 560,000 tonnes to 525,000 tonnes. But the previous month saw a 3.96 per cent growth in alumina production from 505,000 tonnes.
On a year-on-year basis, alumina production in Europe (incl. Russia) also registered a downfall of 19.19 per cent from 693,000 tonnes.
Total alumina production in Europe (incl. Russia) was amassed at 3.156 million tonnes during the first half of 2023, recording a decline of 30.30 per cent from 4.528 million tonnes a year ago.
In June 2023, world alumina production stood at 11.310 million tonnes, bringing the total output in Q2 to 34.613 million tonnes, found IAI data. The quarterly output was 3.72 per cent higher sequentially than 33.372 million tonnes.
In H1, world alumina output totalled 67.985 million tonnes, down by per cent from 69.112 million tonnes during the corresponding period of the previous year.
