Similarly, the scholarship scheme has also been extended to students from Opobo/Nkoro and Andoni Local Government Areas in Rivers State.

According to him, the company attaches much importance to community assistance programmes as well as traditional institutions, adding that special attention would be paid to projects that address critical needs of local communities.
“ALSCON’s assistance in the education sphere also includes monthly financial support of three schools of the plant, besides investments in education, RUSAL ALSCON assists in the spheres of healthcare, development of sports and also provides free electric power to urban Ikot Abasi,” he said.
The scholarship scheme was set up in 2009 with the objective of providing support to indigenous students of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area and neighbouring areas.
