Aleris International reports second-quarter earnings

Aleris International Inc. has reported a second-quarter profit on a solid increase in sales.
The aluminum recycler and producer said its net income in the quarter totaled $56 million. Aleris said it had a year-earlier loss of $60 million, which excluded $2.2 billion in gains associated with the company's emergence on June 1, 2010, from Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.
