Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) welcomed a group of students from the University of Bahrain (UOB) for an extensive tour of the plant on Wednesday, June 8, 2011. The students - who were majoring in physics - were given a demonstration of the state-of-the-art technologies used in the production process as well as briefed on Alba's environmental safeguards and commitment to safety.

Alba's HR & Training Manager Abdul Rahman Janahi met the UOB students who were accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Bououdina.

Commenting on the visit of the UOB students, Alba's Chief Executive Laurent Schmitt said: "Alba values tremendously opportunities to share its experience and expertise with students from Bahrain especially those from UOB. These students will be the kingdom's future leaders and we hope that visits such as these will inspire them to take an active interest in the aluminium industry. We were pleased to welcome UOB students in our premises and we hope that this visit proves to be of great benefit to them."

The UOB students remarked that the visit helped them in the learning process, and that they were impressed to know that Alba is now one of the largest aluminium smelters in the world. They were also briefed on the giant strides that the company has made on the social front.
