The US Aluminum Extruders Coalition (USAEC) commended President Trump's executive order regarding his 50 per cent aluminium tariff, which closes a major valuation loophole underlying its enforcement. Importers have been paying substantially undervalued tariff rates on manufactured aluminium products at the expense of aluminium extruders across the country. Better clarity and enforcement of this tariff following the President's order will level the playing field and protect American extruders from unfair trade practices.
{alcircleadd}"We are grateful to President Trump for recognizing this valuation issue and taking meaningful action to rectify it," remarked Mark Butterfield, Chairman of the USAEC. "Until now, importers have been undervaluing aluminium extrusions entering the country to evade the aluminium tariff. American aluminium extruders have been forced to bear the consequences. President Trump's recent Executive Order enables the entire aluminium supply chain to receive the tariff's benefits."
