The membership of the Global Aluminium Foil Roller Initiative (GLAFRI) elected Bruno Rea as the new President of the organisation, representing aluminium foil rollers worldwide. The election took place during the General Assembly on 28 January 2026, held on the occasion of the 8th Global Aluminium Foil Roller Conference (GLAFCO) in New Delhi, India.

Bruno Rea is Group Executive Director & Chief Commercial Officer of Laminazione Sottile Group and has been actively involved in GLAFRI’s work for many years. He will be supported by Simon Chan (Xiamen Xiashun Aluminium), who was re-elected as Vice President, and Krishna Kumar (Hindalco), who was newly elected as Vice President, forming a strong and internationally balanced leadership team for the association.

“GLAFRI plays an important role in bringing the global aluminium foil industry together, especially in times of rapid change,” said Bruno Rea following his election. “As President, my focus will be on strengthening cooperation across regions, supporting practical sustainability solutions and ensuring that aluminium foil continues to be recognised as a key material for responsible and innovative applications worldwide.”

The General Assembly also expressed its appreciation for the commitment and contribution of the outgoing leadership and welcomed the continuity provided by the re-election of Simon Chan, alongside the fresh perspective brought by Krishna Kumar as newly elected Vice President.

On this basis, the initiative will focus on the key themes addressed at GLAFCO 2026, strengthening international collaboration across the aluminium value chain, advancing sustainability and certification efforts, and supporting innovation and long-term market development for aluminium foil.

GLAFCO 2026 in New Delhi once again demonstrated the strong engagement of the global foil rolling industry, providing a platform for strategic dialogue, knowledge exchange and international cooperation.
