Impact Minerals Limited (ASX: IPT) is pleased to advise that its 50 per cent-owned associated company, Alluminous Pty Ltd, has successfully achieved the first major technical milestone in its joint development program with New York-based battery technology company Charge CCCV LLC (C4V) (ASX Releases December 19th 2025 and February 20th 2026).
{alcircleadd}The milestone marks the successful completion of the particle engineering phase of the program, during which Alluminous' High Purity Alumina was processed with C4V's proprietary dry particle engineering technology to produce material suitable for advanced lithium-ion battery separator coatings (Figure 1).
Importantly, this independent test work confirmed that the engineered material retained its purity throughout the particle engineering process and achieved the particle size distribution and morphology required for separator coating applications.
The work also demonstrated the successful preparation of stable, sodium-free, water-based slurries suitable for coating battery separator materials, representing an important step towards commercial battery qualification.
Transition to battery validation
Completion of the particle engineering program marks the first major technical gateway within C4V's broader qualification program.
The project will now progress to battery architecture development, separator coating optimisation, and electrochemical testing, with engineered Alluminous material incorporated into full battery cells for performance evaluation. Additional Alluminous material is being prepared for this next stage of work.
These activities are designed to validate Alluminous' HPA's performance in advanced lithium-ion battery systems and to support future commercial qualification for battery manufacturers in North America.

Strengthening commercial collaboration
The successful completion of this milestone has further strengthened the collaboration between Alluminous and C4V.
While the initial stages of the program initially focused on assessing the suitability of Alluminous HPA for battery applications, the Collaboration Agreement also includes assistance with commercial opportunities as the project advances through battery validation (ASX Release December 19th 2025. C4V will work with Alluminous as its technical advisor throughout the qualification process with potential customers. The C4V test program was designed to closely align with the qualification processes used in the lithium battery supply chain, providing a solid foundation for customer engagement.
Technical significance
Particle engineering is a critical step in developing battery-grade HPA. While chemical purity is essential, battery separator coatings also require tightly controlled particle size, morphology and dispersion to ensure consistent coating quality and electrochemical performance.
The successful completion of this phase demonstrates that Alluminous HPA can be engineered to meet these physical requirements without compromising the ultra-high chemical purity required for demanding battery applications.
The program has also demonstrated that Alluminous' HPA can be formulated into stable, water-based separator-coating slurries without introducing sodium contaminants, which is important for advanced battery chemistries. In addition, XRD analysis by C4V confirmed that the Alluminous HPA is of the alpha crystal form.
Next steps
The next phase of the test work program will focus on:
These activities are expected to provide the technical basis for future customer qualification and commercial supply discussions.
Impact Minerals managing director, Dr Mike Jones, said, "Completion of this first technical milestone represents an important step in the commercial development of Alluminous HPA. Successfully engineering the HPA to meet battery separator coating particle-size requirements while maintaining purity validates both the material's quality and the capability of the C4V particle-engineering platform. The program is now moving into battery architecture development and electrochemical validation, bringing us significantly closer to potential commercial qualification for advanced battery applications.
Just as importantly, the relationship with C4V continues to evolve beyond technical assessment into broader commercial engagement. As governments and manufacturers seek secure North American supply chains for critical battery materials, collaborations such as this provide an important pathway to future commercial opportunities.”
Alluminous' managing director, David Leavy, said, "These results are an outstanding achievement by the combined Alluminous and C4V technical teams. Over the past twelve months we have progressed from commissioning the pilot plant to achieving our first externally validated downstream application milestone.
I would particularly like to acknowledge Dr Nick Welham and the Alluminous technical team, whose expertise and commitment have been instrumental in producing the consistently high-quality material required for this program.
While important work remains as we enter battery validation, the progress achieved to date provides strong confidence in the commercial potential of the Alluminous technology."
